Our voice is a great gift. It allows us to speak our truth and develop our power to be true to ourselves. The reality is that many of us never find our voice do to shyness and as a result miss out on opportunities, creativity and aligning with our higher gifts.

One of my favorite traditions in Kundalini Yoga is chanting mantras. They are so incredibly beautiful, powerful, transformational and a wonderful way to meditate, especially if you have an over active mind. Our minds can go through tons of ideas, emotions, beliefs, and opinions in a single day! They say within a blink of an eye we have over 1000 images and ideas that are streaming through our mind. These form our channels of perception that actually act as energetic blocks that we need to clear out of our minds and out of our bodies.

In Kundalini Yoga, Mantra & Meditation are used to clear the mind of conscious, ego-driven thoughts that restrict us from experiencing joy. You may feel embarrassed or uncomfortable chanting out loud at first, since our culture views singing out loud strange or odd sometimes.  If you can get past the embarrassment you’ll find it very enriching and rewarding. So leave those inhibitions at the door and really open heart & soul!

"I speak the Truth of who I AM with Love,Wisdom and Clarity. I express Energy as language and understand the spoken word as the Architect of my Reality"

Mantra is a projection of the mind created in either your spoken word or mental thought patterns.Mantra's can be a word, phrase, syllable or sound. They can be recited, sung or repeated silently in the mind and is a technique for regulating the mind. of it's needless chatter. There are many spiriutal mantra's each one having its own quality, rhythm and effect. Every thought or feeling that we have is on a vibratory frequency. By using a powerful mantra aligned with the divine we direct the mind into a higher vibratory frequency. For thousands of years, mystics, meditators, and yogis have used mantras for mental and spiritual transformation. The continuous use of a divine mantra will allow you to shift easily into the New Golden Age of Aquarius.

" I AM worthy to receive the blessings of life"

What happens when I chant a mantra?

When we chant mantras, we give our minds the opportunity to take a break from the usual thoughts running through our busy minds, including our limiting beliefs. We also open up the flow of energy in our vocal cords, our nervous system, our chakras and awaken the life-force energy within us. Within the upper palette of your mouth, you have 84 meridian points! When you chant, your tongue is hitting this upper palette and creating this vibration throughout your body. You literally become the mantra you are chanting. Awakening this energy in your body will start to strengthen your immune system and build up your life-force energy.

What will I feel when chanting mantras?

  • Peace & Clarity

  • Warmth & Pure Bliss

  • Connection with your Higher self

  • Connected to the Universal Source

Here are a few of my favorite kundalini mantras to choose from for your daily practice.

ONG NAMO, GURU DEV NAMO:This is the Adi Mantra that precedes Kundalini Yoga practice, turning one into the higher self. Ong is the “Infinite Creative Energy in manifestation and activity” (“Om” or Aum is God absolute and unmanifested); Namo is “reverent Greetings”, implying humility; Guru means “teacher or wisdom”; Dev means “Divine or of God”; and Namo reaffirms humility and reverence. In all, it means “I call upon Divine Wisdom”. Chanting the Adi Mantra“Ong Namo Guru Dev Namo”for 11 minutes tunes you into the lineage of wisdom from which Yogi Bhajan taught.

AD GURAY NAME, JUGAD GUREY NAMEH, SAT GURAY NAMEH, SIRI GURU DEVAY NAMEH:This is the Mangala Charn Mantra and it is chanted for protection. It surrounds the magnetic field with protective light and means “I bow to the primal Guru (guiding consciousness who takes us to God-Realization), I bow to wisdom through the ages, I bow to the True Wisdom, I bow to the great unseen wisdom.”

ONG SO HUNG: This is “Creator, I am Thou!” It is a heart-opening and empowering mantra.

RA MA DA SA, SA SAY SO HUNG: This is the Siri Gaitri Mantra, and it is chanted for healing. Ra is the sun, Ma is the Moon, Da is the earth, and Sa is Infinity. Say is the totality of Infinity, and So Hung is “I am Thou”. “Ra Ma Da Sa” is the Earth Mantra. And “Sa Say So Hung” is the Ether Mantra. Chanting “Ra Ma Da Sa Sa Se So Hung” awakens healing energy in yourself  and in our world.

SA TA NA MA: This is the Panj Shabad which expresses the five primal sounds of the Universe. “S” is Infinity, “T” is life, “N” means death and “M” is rebirth. The 5th sound is “A”. This is one of the most frequently used mantras in Kundalini Yoga.

SAT NAM: This is the Seed Mantra or Bij Mantra and it is the most widely used mantra in the practice of Kundalini Yoga. Sat is truth, Nam means identity, or to call on the truth, expressing the reality of existence. Chanting this mantra awakens the soul.

AP SAHAE HOA SACHE DA SACHE DHOA, HAR, HAR, HAR:This means “The lord Himself has become our protector, the Truest of true has taken care of us, God, God, God” or “The Lord Himself is my refuge, true is the support of the True Lord”. This mantra is chanted for prosperity.

GURU GURU WAHE GURU, GURU RAM DAS GURU: This mantra calls upon Guru Ram Das in praise of his spiritual guiding light and protective grace. Chanting “Guru Guru Wahe Guru Guru Ram Das Guru”opens your heart to the miracle of Guru Ram Das and brings peace to one’s life.

HAR: This means Creative Infinity, a name of God. HARA is another form. HARI is the active form of creation. It brings Abundance and Prosperity very quickly.

There are so many! You can go to iTunes and type in the titles and you will find many versions to chant along with. My favorites are Ajeet Kaur, Snatam Kaur and Nirinjan Kaur

How long should I chant a mantra for?

Mantras can be chanted for different amounts of time, whether that's 3 minutes, 11 minutes, 21 minutes, or over an hour! The longer you chant a mantra and chanting with consistency allows you to create and manifest dreams in your life. The important thing here is to actually do it and do it consistently in order to get the most out of it. Start with just 3 minutes and go for 40 days. If you miss a day start the count over until have been consistent for 40 days straight. If you are feeling amazing.... keep going! Mantras can help us stay grounded, connected, and in alignment with our divine blueprint. They bring a feeling of peace within that is indescribable and a feeling of deep love for self and humanity. I hope these tips on chanting mantras helped you. I would love to hear what is your favorite mantra and your experience with chanting.
