What is numerology and where does it come from?
Numerology is any belief in the divine or mystical relationship between a number and one or more coinciding events. It's also the study of the numerical value of the letters in words, names, and ideas.Numerology is closely linked to astrology, much like knowing your sign, it's great to also know your number!
A numerologist can be used to describe those who place faith in numerical patterns and draw pseudo-scientific inferences from them, even if those people do not practice traditional numerology. For example, in his 1997 book Numerology: Or What Pythagoras Wrought, mathematician Underwood Dudley uses the term to discuss practitioners of the Elliott wave principle of stock market analysis.

The Greek Philosopher, Pythagoras, is known as the father of Western Numerology. This method can be referred to as either Western Numerology or Pythagorean Numerology.
Pythagoras began his theory of numbers by discovering the numerical relationship between numbers and musical notes. He found that the vibrations in stringed instruments could be mathematically explained. The Pythagorean method uses an individual's name and date of birth. The name number reveals the individual's outer nature. This is the personality that they present to the outside world.
Our experience is knowing your number, can help bring great insight into yourself! Much like knowing your star sign, your human design and other pieces of yourself, you can use numerology as a tool to divine insights into your being and have more compassion for your being and where your journey is going to take you next!
What is my Expression Number?
To figure out your Expression number, write out your full name, first, middle (if applicable) and last. Then, each letter is assigned to a number one to nine, based on the ancient Pythagorean system. The numbers are assigned to letters of the Latin alphabet as follows:
1 = A, J, S
2 = B, K, T
3 = C, L, U
4 = D, M, V
5 = E, N, W
6 = F, O, X
7 = G, P, Y
8 = H, Q, Z
9 = I, R
Use the number guide and place the numerical value next to each letter. Next, add the numbers of your first name, middle name, and last name.
For example: LISA VITTA
L = 3, I = 9, S = 1, A = 1 | V = 4, I = 9, T = 2, T = 2, A = 1
3 + 9 + 1 + 1 = 14 | 4 + 9 + 2 + 2 + 1 = 18
14 + 18 = 32
Reduce this number to a single-digit to reveal your Expression number.
3 + 2 = 5
If you encounter a Master Number -- 11, 22 or 33 -- in any of your reductions, do not reduce it any further.
Why your name?
Your name represents the inheritance of your personal history up to the moment of your birth. Whatever that history is, it has shaped you into what you are. Prior to meeting their child, parents use intuition as their guiding force, picking up on the child's personal vibrations and choosing a name accordingly. The name you were given at birth is the name you were meant to have. When someone changes their name they will get a new name number. This is believed to change certain parts of the individual's personality and destiny.
What is my birth number?
Your birth number is viewed as an extension of your name number. This number represents the traits and talents that you desire to have. It is believed that your birth number reveals your inner nature and life purpose.
To find your birth number you add together all the numbers in the month, day, and year you were born. Then, you reduce that number to a single digit number.
For example: December 28, 1975
Month = 12
Day = 28
Year = 1975
1 2 + 2 8 + 1 975 (1+9=10 & 7+5=12) = 10+12=22
3+10+22 reduce once more to
Your birth month = 12 (1+3) 3 Your birth day = 28 (2+8=10) (1+0) reduces = 1 Your birth year = 1975 = 22 Your life path number = 3 + 1 + 22 = 26/8
Reduce this to a single digit:8
What is a master number?
In the Pythagorean system, there are three master numbers: 11, 22, 33
These numbers do not get reduced to a single number. If your name number or birth number comes out to one of these master numbers, then you do not combine the numbers to form a single digit.
Your Life Path Number vs Your Personal Year Number
Your life path is the date you are born, and your personal year is the month and day you are born but with the current year added together. You are impacted by your own Personal Year Number, which changes every year in the month of your birthday. Some numerologists start everyone's Personal Year on January 1, however, the shift we feel on New Year's Day is related to the Universal Year Number changing, not our individual Personal Year.
So, most people, unless they are born in January, have TWO Personal Year Numbers during any given calendar year:
One carried over from the previous calendar year UNTIL your birth month
One FROM your birth month onward
Your current Personal Year is calculated by adding your month of birth and day of birth to the current calendar year. So for 2020:
Add all single digits of your month and day of birth + the current year (2020).
Month + Month + Day + Day + 2 + 0 + 2 + 0 = _________
If the resulting number is non-master double-digit number, add each individual digit together to arrive at a single-digit Personal Year Number.
Using the Birthday example from above:
December 28, 1975
Month = 12
Day = 28
Current Year = 2020
1 + 2 + 2 + 8 + 2 + 0 + 2 + 0 = 17
Reduce this to a single digit:
1 + 7 = 8
2020 is a "4" Year - What can we expect?
2020 is a 4 Universal Year in Numerology, because 2 + 0 + 2 + 0 = 4
2020 is a very special year of perfect vision and accomplishment. The Numerology code for 2020 unveils a brand-new operating manual for the NEXT DECADE. In 2020, the code of peace, 20/20 vision, and responsibility will help you create real results and security all year long.
The number 4 is masculine. It represents strength, dependability, productivity, order, responsibility, stability, family, home, manifestation, punctuality, obedience, conservation, peace, physical reality, and practical solutions. It is the number of work -- of getting it done!!! You are being asked in 2020 to be fully invested in creating a foundation for long-lasting success, security, and grounding by building something of value that stands the test of time.
I personally view this year and 2022 as a Master Number Energy because I AM an opportunist! Meaning I AM asking for support and the help of the Angels and Ascended Masters to empower everyone making this connection. I believe that this energy is hear to help us if we are authentic, align our positive intentions and actions globally for the benefits others.
The Meaning Behind Single and Master Numbers:
1 = The Primal Force: The 1 is a doer, a powerful force that produces results and does not allow anything or anyone to limit its potential. The 1 is aggressive, a necessary energy for creating and producing. The 1 is always in the forefront: a spearpoint directing and leading others.
2 = The All-Knowing: The most feminine among all numbers, the 2 is also the most underestimated -- at least, when it comes to power and strength. After all, she is almost always gentle, tactful, diplomatic, forgiving and understanding. Certainly, she likes to keep the peace and will avoid confrontations as much as possible.
3 = The Creative Child: The number 3 is like a gifted teenager who is still under the protection of its parents: a bit spoiled, certainly scattered and perpetually in need of guidance. However, the most obvious traits of the 3's are in the creative field. A powerful need to express feelings, ideas and visions of the imagination, coupled with an extroverted personality, makes it likely that a person with 3's in key points of their Numerology chart will seek a career in art, especially the verbal arts. His or her social skills are also excellent.
4 = Laying the Foundation with The Salt of The Earth: 4's are without a doubt masculine, reflecting strength and stability. Their chief characteristics are dependability, productivity, punctuality and obedience. 4's are trustworthy, patient, conventional and a traditionalist. 4 is a bit boring and not much of a social person, preferring to toil in quiet obscurity. 4 works steadily and can be very persistent.
5 = A Dynamic Force: The number 5 is the most dynamic and energetic of all the single-digit numbers. It is unpredictable, always in motion and constantly in need of change. Although it is molded from an almost equal mix of masculine and feminine qualities, in general the 5 is slightly more feminine -- albeit a daring, tomboyish kind of feminine, with nothing submissive about her, extremely independent in mind and soul. She is an adventurer and a risk-taker who has a hard time staying in one place, in one job, in one house or in one relationship. Change is an absolute necessity, and yet the 5 is surprisingly loyal.
6 = The Caretaker: The most important influence of the 6 is its loving and caring nature. Properly nicknamed the motherhood number, it is all about sacrificing, caring, healing, protecting and teaching others. No family or community can function without the power of the 6 to keep them together and safe. She is the glue that keeps a family or community together. There are, however, times when the 6 becomes too involved in the lives of those dear to her, to the point that she becomes intrusive and meddling. Other times, she takes her sacrificing nature too far and becomes a doormat to be abused and trampled on.
7 = The Seeker: The number 7 is the seeker, the thinker, the searcher of Truth The 7 doesn't take anything at face value -- it is always trying to understand the underlying, hidden truths. The 7 knows that nothing is exactly as it seems and that reality is often hidden behind illusions. He will be somewhat introverted, perhaps shy (not to be confused with low self-esteem), never truly comfortable in social settings. The 7 is the intellectual, but his intellect is not always obvious, especially at an early age (as a child, Einstein was dyslexic and not particularly bright or a good student). His intelligence is that of a dreamer, an intellectual explorer of the obscure, the person who tends to have a somewhat off-beat perspective on the world around him.
8 = Balance and Power: The 8 balances the material and immaterial worlds. At its best, it is as spiritual as it is materialistic. The spiritual side of the 8 is practical, realistic and intelligent. It knows the difference between make-believe and genuine spiritual realizations. On the material plane, it is focused on results, often in the form of money, yet does not care much about money for the sake of money. It is not greedy, it sees money as a tool, not an end-result. It is generous and willing to take risks. Some of the more recognizable traits of the 8 are drive, ambition, authority, efficiency, organization, management, discipline and control. The 8 is goal-oriented, focused, has good judgment, can discriminate, is practical and a realist.
9 = Global Awareness: The 9 is the most worldly and sophisticated of all numbers. The 9 has some similarities with the 6. However, whereas the 6 as a symbol of motherly (or fatherly) love, giving its love and care to friends, family and the immediate community, the 9 offers it to the world at large; the 9, more than any other number, has global consciousness and understands the connections between all of mankind. It is a humanitarian, and is the least judgmental of all numbers, the most tolerant and the most conscious. Neither specifically masculine or feminine, the 9 seems more feminine, in large part, because she is so loving and empathetic.
11 = The Most Intuitive: Your life purpose is to become an inspired healer, artistic force, and spiritual catalyst. The Master Number brings a higher vibration and an intensity that is undeniable. It “ups the ante” substantially, and means you’ve come with a greater spiritual purpose, however you define it. Ultimately it means you’re here to “master” your life. This indicates you will have some intense growth experiences and even more significant strengths. When You’re In Alignment, You Are: Sensitive, intuitive, supportive, detail-oriented, patient, cooperative, diplomatic, artistically creative, and psychically gifted.
22 = The Master Builder: Number 22 holds more power than any other number, earning it the nickname "the Master Builder". It is a pragmatic number, a doer, capable of spinning wild dreams into concrete reality. They have a great potential for success -- that's because it has its root in the first Master Number 11 increased by a factor of two, which suggests that it is even more powerful and auspicious with all the intuition. 22 is an expansion of creative possibilities, associated with inspiration, support and the help of the Angels and Ascended Masters. It has a grounded and scientific approach associated with the number 4 (because 2 + 2 = 4). 22 is an ambitious but disciplined number that represents lofty goals brought down to earth and made into something you can touch. It is a grandiose thinker with great confidence and leadership qualities.
33 = The Master Teacher: Arguably the most influential of all numbers is the 33 which is also known as the ‘Master Teacher’. It is the rarest and most powerful because the number 33 also contains the 11 and the 22 and, therefore, upgrades these two other numbers to the top level. Master number 33 has no personal ambition, instead, they want to bring about a spiritual uplifting of all mankind. 33 is associated with complete devotion, rare wisdom and understanding without communication. A typical 33 will concentrate on humanitarian issues, understands all, has innate wisdom, will enlighten us all, and transcend into the beyond. A 33 in action is rare since this number is significant and so hard to find! It is Family-oriented, idealistic, responsible, artistically creative, supportive, devoted, loving, sensible, helping and healing others on a grand scale, supremely creative, a masterful communicator, performing selfless service with joy and with a heightened level of emotional self-expression.
